Obituary of Charles Windorf Sinden

Charles W. Sinden, 100, of Greeley passed away at Greeley Village on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. He was born September 18, 1921 in Meta, Osage County, Missouri to Charles E. and Mary Lavada (Barnhart) Sinden where he was raised and graduated from high school. In 1941, he came with a friend to Colorado. He met Ellena Lee Casteel and they were married on February 9, 1942 in Kimball, Nebraska. Charles served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater before an honorable discharge. He returned from the war and began working for Great Western Sugar Factory in Eaton and later Gering, Nebraska, retiring as a Foreman after a 38 year career and returning to Greeley. In his earlier years he enjoyed water skiing, loved to fish and hunt. He attended Destiny Christian Church, was a prior member of the Eaton American Legion and was honored to travel on the Honor Flight. Thankful to have shared his life include his children; Betty Robb, Bob (Jo) Sinden and daughter-in-law Tonie Sinden, four grandchildren; Mike (Jodi) Widner, Sheri (Matthew) Poznanovic, Robert (Melissa) Sinden and David Sinden, five great-grandchildren, a half-brother, John Sinden and half-sister Patty Godbee. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Jim Sinden, great-grandchild Jordan Sinden, brother George and sister Una Sommerhouse. A Life Celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2021 at Adamson. Inurnment Sunset Memorial Gardens with a reception following in the Adamson Reception Center.
