LeRoy Louis Ball, 82, of Greeley, CO passed away on March 16, 2020 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
LeRoy was born to James and Marie (Beauvais) Ball on July 13, 1937 in Buena Vista County, Iowa.
The oldest of 4 boys raised on a farm in Northwest Iowa. He attended school in Webb and Graduated in 1956. He proudly served in the United States Army 1957-1959. A portion of that time he was stationed in Vassincourt, France.
After returning home he married Alvina (Steffens) Bailey of Spencer, IA and together they had 4 children. Crystal, Anita, Judith Ann and Corey. In 1971 the family moved to Colorado and settled in Greeley. They were married 15 years.
LeRoy had great faith in GOD. He was a Christian and attended Baptist churches most of his life. He was a 32nd Degree Past Master of the Masonic Temple in Greeley, Colorado
He worked for the City of Greeley, did commercial painting and he worked for Hewlett Packard for 22 years in their Loveland, Fort Collins, and Roseville, CA plants.
LeRoy courted and married his childhood sweetheart LaVon (Wolter)Redinius of Sibley, IA in Virginia City, NV on September 13th, 1989, making Greeley their home. They recently celebrated their 30th Wedding Anniversary. For years they traveled all over the United States RVing with the Masonic National Camping Travelers of which he was honored to be the National President in 2008-2009.
He painted and collected Indian Art. He sold his statues at Craft Fairs. LeRoy had a Passion for music! Everything from Traditional Country to Pink Floyd. He loved going to Bluegrass Festivals and concerts.
For more than 35 years LeRoy was a professional Santa Claus. Maybe you remember him from Greeley Harley Davidson or from the Greeley Mall or maybe he visited your home on Christmas Eve…. He was beloved by generations of children in his community.
He spent the last 7 years meeting and making new friends and sharing healthy coffee. He is loved by his business partners, leaders, and customers in his Organo business. He is greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
LeRoy is survived by his wife LaVon Ball; 5 children, Crystal Lange, Anita Winegarner, Judith Rejda, Corey (Cindy) Ball; and Matthew (Ann) Redinius; 10 grandchildren; Ryan DeHart (Kim), Jessica Winegarner, Joshua (Brandy) Winegarner, Salix Gurnsey, Amber (Curtis) McFarland, Brittany Buchholz, all of Greeley. Crista Forrester (Jesse) of LeMoor, CA, Benjamin (Katie) Redinius of Rapid City, SD, Payton and Emily Redinius of Kingsley, IA; 10 great grandchildren; James Prigg lll (Marine Corp), Juliauna DeStAubin, Harlow Winegarner, Delaney Pruitt, Gage & Eian McFarland, Cloe & Emma Buchholz all of Greeley, CO. Everly & Theren Redinius of Rapid City, SD; Siblings; James (Linda) Ball of Lincoln, NE and Steven Ball of Iowa Falls, IA; nieces and nephews and their children and many other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; James and Marie and brother, Neil Ball and ; sisters-in-law JoAnn and Janice Ball.
