Darlene I. Jones (86) died on Monday, January 20, 2020, in Greeley, CO. She was born December 23, 1933 in Greeley, to Hazel Geraldine and Ludwig Martin Bauder. A total of seven children, 4 boys and 3 girls.
Darlene attended Greeley Schools through the tenth grade. In 1949 she then moved to the Los Angeles area to live with her brother Glenn and his family. She graduated from Downey High School with honors. On December 21st, 1951 she married Richard L. Jones of Belleville, Kansas, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In her younger years she did Semi-Pro roller skating and took lessons from Jay Norcross, 3 time World Champion. She participated and enjoyed all types of sports in school. She loved to hunt, but quit, when she became a dog owner and became an animal lover. She and Richard loved golf after a day at the office. He had his pilot’s license and he taught her how to handle the aircraft in flight, which she loved to do.
Darlene was always ready to help anyone who was in need. She was an excellent organizer and was like a Mother figure to many of the young in her life. She also loved to cook and always received compliments on her excellent meals from family and friends.
They loved tent and trailer camping when young. They traveled in their motor home for many years and visited a good share of the U.S. These were the best years of their lives.
Preceded in death by her Parents; by her husband, Richard L. Jones; brothers, Melvin Bauder, Glenn Bauder, Wesley Bauder; and sister, Verla Oliver. Survivors include her sister, Vesper Cook (husband Tommy, died; Wesley’s wife, Marcie Bauder, Ed’s wife Jo Anne Hartl; “Daughter” Teresa Russell and her daughters, Jenna (David) Galich, children Ryan and Halley; Lauren (Brady) Meekhof.
Services will be held at Adamson Life Celebration Home, Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 1:00pm, with reception at 2:00, and interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, in Greeley, 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Humane Society of Weld County. 1640 42nd Street, Evans, CO. 80620.
