Nancy Elizabeth Tann Kofman, with an angel to guide her, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 5, 2020. She was born in Sacramento, California, on September 15, 1950 to Charles and Gladys Tann. Charles moved the family back to Greeley when she was 12. She graduated from Greeley Central High School and the University of Northern Colorado. She was an administrative assistant for many years in Greeley and Aurora, Colorado. She lived in Greeley before marrying Gary Kofman and moving to Aurora. Her mother, Gladys, moved in with the Kofmans’ in her later years and Nancy stopped working in order to care for her until her death. Gary passed away in 2012 having nursed Nancy through a difficult medical time. Nancy lived two more years in Aurora and then moved to The Bridge in Greeley to be closer to her friend, Joan. Joan with husband, Lee and friend Chris, enabled Nancy to be content. In January, 2019, she moved to Life Care where she lived until she passed away.
Nancy was a loving, stubborn, feisty one, content one moment: up in arms the next but she lived her life caring about those close to her and she did it well. What or whom she loved, she loved with an intensity. Her iced tea was an absolute, steaks were her favorite but nothing in between was ruled out. She loved going out to lunch with her mom but Saturdays’ lunch was reserved for Gary. When she moved she and Joan would inhabit Red Lobster where her favorite was always the extra crispy breaded shrimp, extra cocktail sauce with iced tea and lots of it, of course. She loved her California relatives, Aunt Dorothea and Uncle Jack greatly and was happiest visiting them. She was a Type 1 diabetic which caused her to struggle most of her life with one ailment or another – nothing was ever easy and she said diabetes always won. But she was a tough one and worked through everything with valor. She was a member of the Baptist Church both in Aurora and Greeley and enjoyed the Bible studies with Dr. Arni Burron at the Bridge and was solid in her faith in Christ which carried her to her final resting home.
“It is what it is” was her favorite go-to phrase and she used it often.
