Robert L. (Bob) Goetzel of Greeley passed away in his home on Sunday, November 24, 2019. He was 87. Bob was born in Lafayette, CO on August 28, 1932 to Louis J. and Marguerite (Winkel) Goetzel. He lived his entire life in northern Colorado.
On July 14, 1956, he married Marjorie Harris.
As a young man, he worked on a farm with his father and later for Farr Farms of Greeley. He went on to become an electrician, working at the Monfort packing plant and ultimately the University of Northern Colorado, from where he retired in 1998. He was mechanically gifted and excelled at working with motor controls. He was a craftsman, a perfectionist, a skilled builder, and a master tinkerer. His family will always remember his projects: often over-engineered, always brilliantly built.
He was a strong man with a big heart. He will be missed dearly by his family; he put his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren above all else.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Goetzel; his son, Michael Goetzel of Pierce; his daughter, Linda Quist of Greeley and her husband Michael; two sisters, Evelyn Elfstrom of Denver and Caroline Dudley of Greeley; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Cathy Powell and Bertha Rea; his brother, Allen Goetzel; and his daughter-in-law, Luann Goetzel.
Visitation will be held Monday December 2, 2019, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Adamson Life celebration home. 2000 47th Avenue Greeley, Colorado. 80634,Funeral Service will be Tuesday December 3, 2019, 10:00 a.m. at Adamson Life Celebration Home with Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Rifle Association (NRA) in Bob's memory.
