On Friday, Nov. 22 my beloved Lon breathed his last breath here and danced to God. His life here was one of physical pain and challenge right up to the end. Remarkably, his pain and health were not how he defined his life. He made his life a journey of service and love for others. He was passionate about everyone knowing the Good News: there are infinite love and Grace for us all. With that Grace comes a mandate to love always. Lon did that.

In his life of ministry, he built several churches. Lon and his late wife Linda started one church with only themselves and it soon grew to 100-150 members. Lon remains friends with several of these church friends to this day. His mission was never just to amass numbers, though. No, he wanted each and everyone of us to experience the love and healing of God through the presence of Jesus among us. The amazing way he did this was to offer it firsthand to literally everyone he met. From the clerk at Walmart to those he ministered to in church, he was kind, loving, and often hilarious. We got to know God’s love not in a sermon or a book, but through the amazing way that he offered love to all of us.

His four children Janeen, Jocelyn, Andrea, Nate and their families were the joy of Lon’s life. He loved their visits and our trips to be with them. He made sure that each grandchild knew how special they are.

His love and joy lit up my life. He was my best friend, my theological partner, my support and my One True Love.

I will miss you so much, sweetheart. I love you deeply and rejoice with you now as you dance free from pain, with God.

A Memorial Service will be planned for early 2020.
