Obituary

Wilma Joan Bolden went to be with the Lord on November 2, 2019. She was born January 5, 1935 to Frank and Elsie Bray in Pierce, CO. Wilma grew up in Northern Colorado and graduated from Greeley High School in 1953. After graduation she went to work at the phone company.

In February 1955 she married James L. Bolden who was the love of her life. They had three daughters Linda, Janice, and Kathey. She worked in healthcare for most of her life. When her daughter Kathey was diagnosed with Leukemia she became her nurse and care giver making sure she received the best treatment possible. After Katheys’ death in 1972 she focused on Linda and her family. She was a devoted wife and mother.

During her life she was very supportive of her family whether It was something her sisters were doing or her husbands’ obsession with race cars. She was always willing to help. She was a wonderful seamstress making bridesmaid dresses for more than a few family weddings. Her girls always had handmade outfits that their friends were quite jealous of. She was able to turn her hand at just about anything and you might find her with her head under the hood of a car or under a kitchen sink fixing the plumbing. She always had the attitude that she may not be able to fix it but she would give it a try. Growing up in a family of 11 siblings she learned to have a pitch in and help attitude. After her divorce in 1972 she moved back to Greeley to raise her daughter. When her parent’s health began to deteriorate, she lived with them and helped them until their deaths.

One of her greatest joys were her grandchildren and she loved making them matching shirts. When the kids were doing something whether it was at school or rodeo, she could be counted on to be there. If she wasn’t at an activity you would find her sewing, crocheting, or crafting.
She loved to make things for other people and with her talents there was no shortage of the items she would make. Most of her family has something she has made.
One of her favorite adventures is when she took a cruise to Alaska, she loved telling her grandkids about the whales and the scenery.

Even when her health began to fail, and her back injury made it hard to walk she still found a way to attend the family activities. She was a very independent person and when she lost her legs she still lived independently and continued to make shirts for her boys and crochet items. She loved family gatherings and the holidays.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Randall) Teppert, Bayard, NE, and five grandchildren, Craig Teppert, Greeley, CO, Aaron Teppert, Scottsbluff, NE, Anthony (Tela) Teppert, Cheyenne, WY, Kathey Teppert, Scottsbluff, NE, and John Teppert, Raymond, NE; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara (Burt) Burrough, Longmont, CO, Helen Gouge, Longmont, CO, Joyce (Raymond) Ingersoll, Arizona City, AZ, Carol (Mickial) Harding, Greeley, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, Frank Henry Bray and Elsie Marie Bray; daughters, Janice Louise Bolden and Kathey Lee Bolden; four sisters, Kathryn Stone, Bessie Faucet, Ruby Johnson, and Doris Roland; her brothers, Frank Bray Jr. and Leonard Bray; and one great grandchild.

What a magical way her laughter lit up the room, and I loved making her laugh. She would always say after, "What am I going to do with you?" And I'd just smirk and shed laugh again. Her kindness of wisdom always has stayed with me. How often she would give thought prior to responding, showing a patience towards my foolish youth. It is a lesson I attempt to pass onto my children. How she loved seeing them, content to watch them play on the floor, assassinate her crochet projects, sneak to the table for leftover halloween candy, or candy canes. Grandma shaped my life in so many positive ways. Not only as her grandchild, father to her great grandchildren, but as a human, and a man. You are loved, and dearly missed.
