I heard of the passing of your mom, Mary Lou, through a volunteer at Garden Square. I wanted to let you know what a pleasure it was for me to help care for her. She was a wonderful light in the lives of many with her profound love of Christ and her joy of being part of the community of Garden Square. I loved seeing her skill at painting depicted in the many watercolors she completed. I loved her smile that lit up the room and her willingness to help with many programs and events. It was my privilege and pleasure to know her and her family. My sincere condolences to you all.

I’m a volunteer at Gatden Square and loved Mary Lou’s sunny, uplifting, encouraging disposition. She did watercolor paintings with me and would always tell me “thank you” in German as she left..I learned how to say “you’re welcome” in German and we ended our painting sessions that way until she stopped painting. The way she loved Jesus all of her days and brought Him into every conversation was such a great example to me and others. Often I would find her sitting by the fire place and when I asked how she was doing she’d tell me “learning patience”. She loved cappuccino and snacks, her hats and her Jesus pin...and she was loved and will be missed by all.

Correction... Westside Baptist Church, 6260 West 4th St., Greeley, Colorado... NOT Tabernacle Baptist Church. Sorry.

Many of us at Tabernacle Baptist Church fondly remember Mary Lou, her special Sunday hat, and her shiny "I Love Jesus" pin that she wore to church, when she was physically able to attend. It was a delight to have her part of the congregation on Sundays. She is certainly happier now, in heaven with her Savior! Our condolences to her family. Catherine Hergert
