Harvey Leonard Johnson, 81, of Windsor passed away at Poudre Valley Hospital Fort Collins on January 27, 2019. He was born to Eric and Katherine (Wambolt) Johnson in Windsor on March 8, 1937.
Harvey graduated from Timnath High School in 1955, and joined the US Navy serving from 1955-1959. He was stationed out of Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story Naval Amphibious Base, in Little Creek Virginia on the USS Burdo APD 133.
He met the love of his life, Alvina Harvey on a joint base in Nova Scotia Canada, while Alvina served the Royal Canadian Navy, and Harvey the US Navy. They married October 24, 1959 at Christ Church Edmonton Alberta Canada. They were married 59 years.
They began their life in Fort Collins, Colorado where Harvey farmed. From there they moved to Barstow, California where he worked for Goldstone Deep Space Communication Complex, and later moved to Lompoc, California where Harvey worked for Vandenburg Air Force Base. The family then moved back to Windsor, where Harvey was the ditch-rider for the #2 ditch and later Kodak where he retired. After retirement he loved to keep busy with numerous part-time jobs including Safeway, Spradley Barr Ford, and Windsor Parks and Rec.
He enjoyed rustic aspen woodworking, hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. He also enjoyed his morning coffee with his coffee club cronies.
He cherished his granddaughters and his great grandchildren. He will be remembered for his great love for his family, honesty, kind words, big hugs, infections smile and laugh. You always walked away from him knowing you were cared for and loved.
He was a proud member of the American Legion in Windsor and enjoyed attending Faith United Church of Christ.
Harvey is survived by his wife Alvina; children, Linda (John) Pfleiderer of Kersey, and Michael (Karen) Johnson of Windsor; grandchildren, Amanda (David) Devitt of Kersey, Jessica (Nick) Richmeier of Kersey and Kendall Johnson of Greeley; four great grandchildren, Hadlee, Bowen and Weston Devitt, and Harvey Richmeier; and the family that raised him, and he considered siblings, Barbara (Harley) Haas, Dennis (Jennifer) Weichel, Paul (Susan) Weichel and Bill (Elaine) Weichel.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eric and Katherine Johnson and sister, Shirley Tull; and his aunt and uncle who raised him, and helped shape him into the amazing man he was, Clarence and Mary Weichel.
Life Celebration Service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Faith United Church of Christ, 1020 Walnut Street in Windsor Colorado.

Harvey was one of my favorite patents. He was special, always smiling, good spirited. I was a pleasure and an honor to be his personal physician for so many years. He tried to introduce me to ice fishing, which I regret didn't happen. My sympathies to Alvina and family.
