Obituary for Thalia G. Roebuck

Print
Thalia Roebuck, 88, of Greeley, was called home to be with her Lord on November 21, 2018 in Greeley, Colorado. Thalia was born in Cleveland, Ohio to William and Thalia (Rainier) Grammer on May 18, 1930. Thalia graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and went on to teach in Ohio, Denver and Japan. Following teaching and raising her children she entered into the social work profession.
Thalia married the love of her life and college sweetheart, Ed Roebuck on May 19, 1953. She loved people and made friends effortlessly with her gracious, humble and charming personality. She was a Girl Scout and 4-H Leader as well as a member of the First Congregational Church, UCC. Thalia and her husband were active in the church, teaching Sunday school, volunteering, and traveling to Haiti for a mission trip.
She enjoyed countless activities like sewing, quilting, playing the piano, gardening, flower arranging, refinishing antique furniture, singing, tole painting and crewel stitching which were all self-taught. Her superb sewing skills consisted of making family clothing and even a camping tent. Thalia loved being outdoors, whether it was hiking, camping, or just enjoying her beloved Colorado Mountains. Above all she loved spending time with her husband, daughters, grandchildren, family and friends. She always felt her life was rich in all things and will be remembered for her kind, gentle and unconditional loving soul.
Thalia is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ed; children, Mary Lynn (Jim) Murphy, Martha Sue (Mike) Bliss; grandchildren, Jennifer Bliss, Tyler Bliss and Alaina Murphy; brother, William Grammer. She was proceeded in death by an (infant) son, David Roebuck; her parents; and sister, Constance Snider.
Life Celebration Memorial for Thalia will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at First Congregational Church, 2101 16th Street in Greeley. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Thalia’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or First Congregational Church Scholarship Fund.
