The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Richard Jensen can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Richard Wayne Jensen

Richard Wayne Jensen was born May 30, 1930 in Milliken, CO to Albert R. and Edna E. (Harrington) Jensen. He passed away at his home on January 28, 2018.

He attended schools in Mead, Sterling, and Nunn, CO and graduated from high school in 1949. At age 9, he suffered a badly burned leg in a gasoline fire which took many inches of skin from him and his father to graft.

After moving to Nunn at age 12, he worked on a farm until graduation. He then worked for a construction company which took him to Castle Rock when I-25 was being built. It was there he met his wife of 65 years, Marilyn J. Goehry. They were married on February 12, 1952. He then spent 31 years working with CDOT.

He is survived by his wife, three sons - Rick (Barb) of Mead, Terry (Cynthia) of Fort Collins, and Randy (Tricia) of Pine; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers-in-law, and one granddaughter.

A Life Celebration service will be held on Saturday, February 3 at 4:00 p.m. at Adamson Life Celebration Home in Greeley with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Pathways Hospice” or “Fellowship of Christian Athletes” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Friends may leave condolences at adamsoncares.com.
