Obituary for Thomas Dean "Tommy" Buxmann

Thomas Dean Buxmann, 54, of Windsor, Colorado lost his life in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, January 20 near Cherokee Park in the mountains of Colorado.

Thomas was born on April 29, 1964 to Tom and Sue (Rutz) Buxmann in Windsor, Colorado. He grew up in the small community where he became known as “Tommy”. He attended Windsor schools where he competed as a cross-country runner and a state-qualifying wrestler. This endeavor as a wrestler led to his life-long hatred of Jolly Rancher candy which he would suck on to generate saliva in his efforts to “cut” weight. He graduated from Windsor High School in 1982. He went on to earn his AA degree from Aims Community College in Auto Mechanics. Following in the footsteps of his dad, Tommy was a volunteer fire fighter/EMT with the Windsor-Severance Fire Department. His strong work ethic caused him to start washing dishes at the Firehouse Restaurant at the age of 14. Later he held a variety of jobs as a mechanic, parts clerk at Windsor Auto Parts, groundskeeper at Ptarmigan Golf Course, production mechanic at Walker Mowers where he won an award for innovating a change to a part that was causing problems in the building of the Walker Mower. At the time of his death, he was owner/operator of Lil Bux Lawn Care.

Tommy was a gifted mechanic and his family and friends turned to his skills and knowledge many times over the years. He always seemed to be able to find solutions and fix any problem. We could count on him as Mr. Fix-It. His passions and pursuits included Mountain Dew (until his health would not allow it anymore), Harley-Davidson motorcycles, fishing, bow and rifle hunting, throwing darts, playing pool, tinkering and repairs. His greatest passion was being with people and helping them in any way he could. His home was an open door to those in need.

Tommy is survived by his parents, Tom and Sue Buxmann, a daughter, Kylene Buxmann, a son, Wayland Buxmann, sisters Tammy (Brad) Boehler and Tracie (John) Martinez, niece Michaela Boehler and nephew Caleb (Siri) Boehler, several uncles, aunts and cousins and of course; many, many close friends.

A Life Celebration Service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 328 Walnut Street, Windsor. The family will be hosting a luncheon in the Parish Hall at Bethel Lutheran following the celebration and highly encourages all of Tommy’s family and friends to stay for food and fellowship. Telling stories is an important way to honor his memory. A family inurnment will held at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery, Windsor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wild Animal Sanctuary, 2999 County Road 53, Keenesburg, CO 80643 or
