Obituary for Martin Jay Goff

Martin Jay Goff, 56, of Platteville passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at The Denver Hospice Care Center. He was born September 11, 1962 in Greeley to Hugh Christian and Patricia May (Morgan) Goff and spent his entire life in Platteville, the town he loved.
Marty graduated from Valley High School in 1981 and became a mechanic by trade. He reveled in motors and anything connected to them. Marty was extremely talented in diagnosing and repairing anything mechanical, he was the go to person for friends and family when something wasn’t working as it should.
Marty enjoyed all things racing including stock car, drag racing and NASCAR. He had an ongoing obsession with his beloved 69 Roadrunner. He enjoyed talking about his “baby” with anyone that he knew or met. He adapted the car with hand controls and enjoyed a successful drag racing career at Bandimere Speedway, as well as other venues in Las Vegas and Nebraska. To say that Marty was a motor sports enthusiast is an understatement, it was his love and his life’s passion. He spent summers racing and winters rebuilding the motor and concocting ways to improve his car and its performance. Marty made many friends through racing and considered them to be part of his family, he also had numerous friends in Platteville that were a major part of his life.
Marty enjoyed following his Denver Broncos, he had been a season ticket holder for many years and rarely missed watching games with friends. He was also a member of the NHRA and enjoyed competitive trap shooting.
Marty overcame many challenges in life and maintained a positive disposition through it all. He said being kind was the easiest thing of all and did all he could to improve the lives of the people he cared about, his generosity was legendary. Marty always put others first and was a cherished friend to many. Marty relished in spending time with his close circle of friends and their children, one of his favorite times of year was Halloween and he worked hard to make each child feel special, especially on that day.
Survivors include his sister, Robin Lee Ann (Jeff) Legg of Aurora and two nieces; Colleen Taylor and Megan Grace Goff and Sister-in-Law, Sue Goff all of Taylors, SC. He had a special relationship with his Uncle and Aunt, Pep and Shirley Morgan as well as numerous cousins whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mikeal Chris Goff.
Family and friends are invited to a gathering from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Platteville Community Center.
Memorial gifts may be made to “Craig Hospital” or “Denver Hospice” in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Friends may leave condolences at
