Phillip Michael (Phil) Sheetz passed away on January 21, 2018 at Centennial Healthcare in Greeley. Phil was born May 25th, 1942 in Gilburg Illinois to Clarence and Coyla (Meek) Sheets. The family eventually relocated to the Galeton area, where Phil attended high school. Phil enjoyed athletic pursuits, playing football, basketball and baseball. He worked as a farmhand in his teenage years. Phil graduated from Galeton High School in 1961.
Phil became part owner of General Heating and Air Conditioning in Greeley. After he sold his share of the business, he moved to Grand Junction Colorado to start another venture. He sold his interest in that business to pursue a job as a Sheet Metal-Superintendent for Cobb Mechanical in Colorado Springs. Phil worked on numerous projects located throughout Colorado and Texas. Phil’s retirement from Cobb Mechanical saw him helping on his son-in-law’s ranch/farming operation and working as a ditch rider for Finley Lateral.
Phil enjoyed fishing, skiing, playing cards and riding horses. His daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren were very important to him.
Phil is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Sonny and Jerry.
Phil is survived by his daughter, Tammie (Dave) Lind, grandchildren Brigid (Nate) Brumley, Aubrey Lind (David Dreschel), Brandon Lind (Maggie Griggs), Trent Lind, and six great grandchildren. Phil is also survived by his brothers Gene, Jim, Larry, and Billy as well as his sisters Joyce, Hazel, and Sandy.
Per Phil’s wishes there will be no services. He has requested to have his ashes spread on the family ranch.
