Douglas Richardson, 75, died December 2, 2017 in Greeley, CO.
He was born October 21, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY to Eugene and Marion (Quinn) Funk. He graduated from Franklin K Lane high school in 1960. He graduated from New York City Community college with an Associate Degree in Microbiology in 1972. Douglas worked for the American Red Cross and Brooklyn Community College. In 1970 the family moved to Colorado where he worked at Rangely District Hospital and then Greeley Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He moved back East to New Jersey in 1987 where he worked for St. Joseph Hospital in Paterson, NJ and Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg in Bethlehem, PA when he retired in 1996. He moved back to Colorado after the death of his wife.
The happiest day of Douglas’s life was when he married Aleda Reichert on May 23, 1964. The saddest day of his life was when he lost his beloved wife, Aleda in 2010. Douglas was passionate about playing his banjos, guitars and dobro. He loved to play for his family, friends, and at church. He also enjoyed telling and writing stories.
His hobbies were collecting and building model steam trains and trollies. He also built a layout where he could run his trains.
Douglas is survived by his children, Lynn Bernhardt (Jim), Douglas Richardson (An), Andria Arace (Dave); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Daniel, Peter, Aleda ”Peanut”, Sean; step grandchildren, Frank and Dustin; and brother, Eugene “Jay” Funk and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Kendall “Kay” Funk; and his wife, Aleda.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. and Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. December 15, 2017, at United Methodist Church, 108 King Avenue, Johnstown, CO.
