Obituary for
Robert Lee Kerns
Robert Lee “Bob” Kerns, 84, of Greeley, CO passed away October 26, 2017 at Tru Hospice of Northern Colorado.
He was born September 2, 1933 to Jack and Mable (Widenkeller) Kerns. Bob grew up in Greeley and Gill, CO, grew up in Greeley, and graduated from Greeley Central High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War on the USS Platte and was honorably discharged in 1955. On March 31, 1957 he married Shirley Winter in Raton, NM.
Bob started Greeley Fence Company in the mid 70’s. Prior to that he worked for Sinton’s Dairy. He enjoyed fishing, and yard work. Bob was a great dad and grandpa. He was a man of integrity, was a perfectionist in his profession, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
Bob is survived by daughters, Debra (Tony) Backman of Garland, TX, Sandy Torres of Greeley; grandchildren, Justin Jayne, Anthony Backman, Alexis Torres and Diego Torres; brother, Jerry Kerns of Leavenworth, KS and numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; and his parents.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Adamson Life Celebration Home. Graveside Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
