Obituary for Robert G. Harris

Robert G. Harris
Robert G. Harris, 70, of Greeley, died Sunday, October 22nd, at the TRU Hospice of Northern Colorado inpatient unit.

Bob was born to Thomas L. and Betty R. (Bohlender) Harris, of Platteville, Colorado on January 14, 1947. He lived there for 22 years. The years spent growing up in a small town were wonderful, and helping his grandfather and father on the farm gave him a strong work ethic.

In 1964, Bob graduated from Valley High School in Gilcrest, Colorado. He was a proud graduate of Colorado State University graduating in 1968, with a B.S. degree in accounting. Bob was drafted into the Army in May 1969 and was honorably discharged in May 1971.

He married Carol L. Larson of Westminster, Colorado on May 22, 1971 at Augustana Lutheran Church. They met while they were students at CSU. They have two daughters, Emily and Kelley.

Bob was a Certified Public Accountant, a profession he really enjoyed. He was in partnership with Wayne Hoover for many years.

Bob’s passion was physical fitness, running in particular. He participated in many local races that supported a variety of charities. He also volunteered for other organizations throughout the years. His love of dogs was fulfilled by volunteering at the Humane Society of Weld County. He served in various capacities at the Humane Society including Board of Directors, race director for the Paws ‘N Sneakers Fun Run for 10 years, and walking the shelter dogs. Bob and his family had at least one dog in the family home for many years.

Bob was a wonderful, loving and devoted husband, father and Grandad and will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

Survived by wife Carol; daughters, Emily (Jason) Godinez of Greeley and Kelley (Wade) Gibson of Arvada; brother, Russell (Stephanie) of Aguilar, Colorado; grandson, Joshua Godinez; granddaughter, Scarlett Gibson; and step grandson, Samuel Gibson.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Adamson Chapel. A dessert reception will follow. Private inurnment at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Humane Society of Weld County in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Friends may leave condolences at
