Obituary for Benina E. Jaramillo
Benina Eufelia Jaramillo, 93, of Evans, CO passed away peacefully on September 24, 2017 in Greeley, CO.
She was born in Conejos, CO on February 24, 1924 to Moises and Lupita (Armenta) Martinez. In 1952 she married Joe Jaramillo and together they raised seven children.
Benina loved her family. She particularly enjoyed music, her flower garden and cooking for her family. Her greatest joy was when her family was around so she could feed them. She would always make enough food for everyone and no one left her home hungry. She never used a recipe; everything was made from memory. Benina shared some of these favorites with her grandchildren and they were thrilled to know the unwritten recipes. During the few weeks prior to passing, Benina even prepared these feasts in her sleep and frequently apologized for not being able to get up and take care of everyone.
In her 80’s she developed a fondness for travel to visit her relatives. She loved playing cards with her grandchildren and would always win. She would laugh and joke with them throughout their time together.
Benina was a friendly and caring lady. So long as she had her family, she did not require anything else. Her devout faith in the Lord carried her through the up and down times. Benina and Joe have been members of St. Peter Catholic Church for over 50 years. Benina will be missed greatly. Her kindness, love and the twinkle in her eyes were her legacy to all those she loved and whom loved her.
