Kandye Sue Schmidt passed away on August 5, 2017 at NCMC in Greeley. She was born October 20, 1956 in Oberlin, KS to LaVern “Chiz” and Janice (Roberts) Ruzicka.
Kandye grew up in Kansas, graduating from Liberal High School. She moved to Colorado in 1981 and received her nursing degree from the Community College of Denver, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She was very proud of this accomplishment.
On August 1, 1975 she married Christopher John Schmidt in Kansas and they recently celebrated 42 years together.
Kandye worked as a RN at NCMC, for Dr. Candice Morgan and later at Bonell Good Samaritan Center before retiring.
She enjoyed cooking and loved to play the violin and trumpet. She also enjoyed camping and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Chris of Evans; daughter, Katie Schmidt (Brian Ginoza) of Littleton; mother, Janice Winters of Oberlin, KS; sisters, Sharyn Bodfield of Lincoln, NE, Sandy (John) Weigel of Oberlin, KS and Kay (Bill) Mitchusson of Bastrop, TX.
She was preceded in death by her son, Nicholas Schmidt; father, LaVern and stepfather, Gary Winters.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 15 at the Adamson Chapel followed by the Recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 16 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Avenue. A reception will follow at the Adamson Reception Center.
