Obituary for Elnora Bliss
Elnora O. Bliss, 89, of Greeley passed away peacefully on April 28, 2017 in Greeley, CO. She was born October 31, 1927 in LaSalle, CO to Carl and Pauline (Dupper) Kaiser. Elnora attended LaSalle Elementary School, Greeley Commercial College and the University of Northern Colorado. After her education, she worked for Union Pacific Railroad Telegraph releasing telegraphers to enlist in the Armed Forces during World War II and worked for the Mountain States Telephone Company in Communications.
Elnora married Robert “Bud” Bliss in 1949 in Idaho Springs, Idaho and they celebrated 67 years together.
She loved people and her friendships were boundless. Elnora particularly loved her friends at The Bridge in Greeley where she enjoyed many activities. In 1955, Elnora co-founded Bliss Investments LLC; Bliss Business Industrial Park and Bliss Produce with her husband, Bud. After her son, Michael Bliss, joined the business in 1984, she continued to work until retiring in 2016.
She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational, UCC and a Life Member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Evans VFW Post #6624. In 1975, Elnora was honored at the installation banquet of Evening Belles Toastmasters Club by being voted “Toastmistress of the Year”. She received a sterling silver vase with an exquisite china rose and an orchid corsage and was installed the new president.
Elnora thoroughly enjoyed cooking, fishing, playing the piano, crocheting, stitching and sewing. She spent a lot of her time in Red Feathers, CO and traveling the world; Spain being her favorite. She will be remembered for her grace, dedication to her loved ones and her famous chicken noodle soup and butterballs.
Elnora is survived by her husband, Bud; son, Michael (Martha) Bliss; grandchildren, Jennifer and Tyler Bliss; Martha’s parents and close friends, Ed and Thaila Roebuck as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Patricia Bliss; brothers, Alvin and Robert Kaiser and a sister, Virginia Scheere.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Adamson Chapel. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow at the Adamson Reception Center.
