Obituary for Gertrud Ziel (Ziebart)
Gertrud Ziel, 89, of Windsor, Colorado, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 3, 2011. She died peacefully in hospice at North Colorado Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born on January 6, 1922 in Romania, to parents Daniel and Christina (Folkhert) Ziebart. Gertrud, her husband and sons immigrated to the United States in March of 1952. She proudly became a US citizen in 1958. Oma spent most of her adult life living and working in the Windsor area.
After she and her husband retired from farming, they could frequently be found doing the polka at the Denver Kickers Club, among others. Oma loved music, her family, her little dog, Toby, and her Lord. She was often heard praying for others.
She was a wonderful help-mate to her husband Fred, who preceded her in death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by two children, Erika and Oscar, both infants, and her grandson, Jeremy Hartshorn.
